It’s like a TED talk, only more casual. Yeah, it’s more like a FRIEND talk.
After all, these speakers are all your neighbors. Come to Klockow the first Sunday of the month to hear a local expert in their field talk about, well, the thing they’re an expert at! It’s an afternoon to geek out with the geeks!
And we’re kicking it off with head geek, Andy Klockow himself!
Speakers will also get to name their favorite beer on tap, which will then be put on a $5 special for the day!
Want to share gems from your vinyl record collection? Want to find other people to play board games with? This is the event for you! Bring your own vinyl, use our board games or bring your own!
Join us every third Sunday for telling stories on our stage! Each month has its own theme!

Tired of the crass commercialization of Christmas? Left feeling empty after beating up a fellow shopper over a doll?
Then join us on Monday, Dec. 23, for the celebration of Festivus!
With music by Sam Miltich and hosted by Ditty Wish, it will be a night where memories are made and grievances are aired! Come admire our unadorned aluminum poll and witness the easily explained phenomena that are Festivus miracles. Come for the potluck dinner but stay for the feats of strength!
We encourage you to bring a dish to share as we drink to this most auspicious of holidays! There will be a drop box where you can anonymously write down your grievances which will be randomly drawn to be read on stage, and host Ditty Wish will be calling on people to demonstrate feats of strength, including leg wrestling, of course. And all of this will be done to the jazz soundtrack of Sam Miltich.
And, of course, don’t forget to make donations to The Human Fund: Money for People.
Join Klockow and Ditty Wish for an hour of bar shanties and Christmas ditties following our monthly Open Mic!
The art of the group bar sing is all but lost, but we’re not gonna let it go quietly! We’re kicking off our monthly sing just before Christmas since we all know a few of these carols. And let’s face it, most of the classic old world Christmas tunes are just drinking songs anyway!
So let’s drink and make merry with a song in our hearts and a pint in our hands!
We’re pleased to announce Ditty Wish hosting open mic on the KBC stage on the last Sunday of the month! Either join her for some tunes, play on your own, or bring some friends! NOTE: This is not limited to music - showcase your poetry, standup, or whatever else!
Let’s celebrate queer excellence! Come to Klockow for a special after hours event, Radiance Drag Show.
Featuring Spectrum, ThatQueerIsa, Dixie Diamond, Aidy HG, Rocco Lanite, Rex Boyfriend, and Tomi St. James, Radiance promises to be a night of fabulous costumes, huge personalities, and, yes, queer excellence!
$15 at the door. And don’t forget to tip the performers! Show starts after normal business hours at 9 p.m. Stay afterward for a Winter Solstice dance party!
Think you got what it takes?
Think you know more useless BS than the other bar flies?
Then assemble your team and join us on the third Tuesday of every month for trivia!! In a partnership with Itasca Pride, Grand Rapids Area Freethinkers, and Itasca Area Indivisible, we’re hosting a trivia night run by members of the aforementioned nonprofits.
There’ll be two games per night, with multiple rounds each. Winning teams will receive tokens for free beer pints. Arrive early to sign up. Games start at 6 p.m.

Join us on Wednesday, Oct. 30, for our Biking for Beer: Spooky Spokes Bicycle Pub Crawl! This pub crawl, or in this case, pub roll, will be hitting three different beer-centric locations over the course of 7 miles: Rapids Brewing Company (brewpub), Klockow Brewing Company (brewery & taproom), and The Pickled Loon Saloon (gastropub). Each stop will have free beer drawings!
We’ll be meeting at RBC at 4 p.m. and spending 30 to 45 minutes at each location (more information on route and other details below), finishing by coming into town to Klockow Brewing.
And in honor of Halloween, we insist that all of you dress in your best costumes! Only catch is that you have to make sure nothing catches in your chain, so sorry, probably no Dementor costumes.
Remember, sun is setting earlier all the time, so be sure to have bike lights for the ride home!
Advice from a year-round bicycle commuter:
So you’re going to bike around town, utilizing streets, trails, and highways? Sound daunting? Perhaps, but then again, so does everything that you’ve never done before! Trust me, as a year-round bike commuter for the past 12 years, I’ve seen it all. And no matter what time of year, whether in a small town or a big city, commuting by bicycle is a fun way to get around, and as long as you follow a few basic rules, perfectly safe.
First thing you keep in mind as being a part of Biking for Beer, you’re going to be with a group. Particularly when biking in a populated area, there is strength in numbers! The best thing you can do for bike safety is visibility, and the best thing you can do for visibility is for there to be too many of you to ignore.
So you’re off to a good start with this ride!
Sticking with visibility, there are a couple key things a bike commuter should do:
Wear bright/reflective clothing.
Have sufficiently bright lights on your bike, particularly a red light on the back.
Once you’re perfectly visible, the next key thing to do is always pay attention. You should always be aware of your surroundings, from any obstacles that might be on the path in front of you, to any cars that you might be sharing the road with. Making yourself seen is a great start, but in the end, you’re in control of your bicycle. Ride with purpose.
Lastly, safety gear is always a must. Unless you’re about to tackle a mountain, this gear is actually quite simple:
Helmet
Protective glasses
The helmet is an obvious piece of equipment, but I would argue the glasses are just as, if not more, important. Depending on the day, there could be debris in the air when it’s windy or raindrops from a random shower. If you’re being kept from keeping your eyes open and on the road, your likelihood of a crash has just increased. That, of course, is where the helmet comes in!
But enough of preparing for the worst. Bicycling is fun, after all! We’ll be riding as a group at a leisurely pace after seeing our friends at Rapids Brewing Company. If you win a free beer, we recommend saving it for next time so that you don’t drink too much on the ride, but you do you. We just want to make sure everyone’s safe (if at any point someone appears to be too intoxicated to ride safely, you’re out of the ride and we’re calling you a cab). We’ll ride across the footbridge over the Mississippi River and follow that trail nearly the entire way to Klockow Brewing, where another round of pints will be available. After about another half hour, and after another round of free pint drawings, we’ll hit the longest leg of our journey! First down 2nd Ave. S, then Airport Road once at the edge of town, we follow that to Harristown Road which connects to Hwy 169. We’ll ride the wide shoulder of the highway the rest of the way to the shore of Pokegama Lake and the Pickled Loon, for more pints, drawings for drinks, and a little bite to eat to refuel!
Last but not least, we’ll ride back into town and regroup again at Klockow Brewing, where we’ll likely have another pint, of course! If nothing else, we’ll all be safely back in town.
The Brothers Burn Mountain are coming back to the KBC stage for our Anniversary Week, a raincheck from their unfortunate cancellation prior to Riverfest! The Brothers mix an eclectic soundscape of soothing lyricism to groove along with and then hard hitting percussion interludes to rile the senses. If you haven't seen them before, you won't want to miss your chance. If you have, we'll see you here!
It’s a beery book fair event at your favorite local brewery, this time for the spooky season! Join us as we host the fine folks of Wildflower Book Shop.
Enjoy books, beer specials, and even beer/book pairings!
This is a beginner friendly workshop where we will learn 2 different techniques to make a wire wrapped ring. The first design is with a crystal & the other is a crescent moon adjustable ring.
If someone does not know their ring size, there will be a sizer available to find your perfect fit.
There will be all kinds of crystals to choose from and a few metal options for wire.
All supplies will be provided. You will leave the class with 2 or more rings that were made by YOU!
Be sure to purchase tickets in advance here!
It’s time once again for the greatest beer-centric event in all of Itasca County: Klocktoberfest!
There will be games, there will be food, there will be music, there will be children’s bouncy castles for pete’s sake! We’re talking giant whack-a-mole here. Additional games will be run by local non-profits including the Itasca Curling Club, Great Tails Animal Rescue, and United Way 1000 Lakes. Think you have what it takes to win at Nagelspiel? Only one way to find out! Just be sure to bring cash to participate in the various non-profit run games!
But I hear you asking, will there be beer?? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes, including the return of our annual fest bier: MÜNCHKIN! It’s a perennial favorite, and will only be back for a limited time. So get it while the getting is good, particularly while at Klocktoberfest!
Music during the day will begin with the polka stylings of Nathan Neuman from noon until 4, setting the mood early for the day. Sandwiched in the middle are the talented Lindula Brothers from 4:30 to 6:30. And starting at 7, the return of that glorious folk trio, MorningBird! For food, we’ll have Singing Chihuahua Tacos and Borealis Creamery Ice Cream.
Come early, stay late, have a designated driver, and we’ll see you on the 28th!!
Come to Klockow Brewing to meet with the friendly folks of Great River Road Country Market for our first ever Flower Bar on Wednesday, Sept. 18!
This pop-up flower-arrangement party is a great chance for you to test your mettle at making beautiful bouquets, as well as simply just having said beautiful bouquet to bring home! Alaina of Great River Road is super excited about their sunflowers of all shapes and sizes and will be bringing them to the brewery for you to purchase.
$15 gets you the vessel, the blooms, advice on arrangements, and the chance to talk to the flower farmer herself about all things floral! And best of all, you can do all this and more with a pint of beer in your hand.
Let’s celebrate queer excellence! Come to Klockow for a special after hours event, Iron Range: Radiance Drag Show.
Featuring Spectrum, ThatQueerIsa, Dixie Diamond, IzzySain, and Clint Toures, Radiance promises to be a night of fabulous costumes, huge personalities, and, yes, queer excellence!
$15 at the door. And don’t forget to tip the performers! Show starts after normal business hours at 9 p.m.

Join us for a rare public gallery by local artist Tom Page. “Women with Attitude” is a series of portraits of women, all of whom exhibit their own form of “attitude,” a term Page himself admits to be amorphous.
“I don’t know what my original expectations were: women with prison ‘tats,’ hair on fire, female motorcycle gang members, female escapees from Fire Island? Not sure,” said Page in his artist statement.
The end result is meant to be one of honesty and subjectivity, where each model simply brought themselves forward as they saw fit for Page to capture.
“I had processed the general meaning of attitude, how it applies to all genders and sexes, how we all have one, positive, negative, or somewhere in between and how it can quickly change,” said Page.
In addition to an artists talk at 4 p.m., many of the actual models will be present and speaking as well.
