Upcoming events:
40, 40, 48 Hours to go-oh-oh! We’re gonna be captivated! Or maybe fascinated? Infatuated? Hell, I’m hoping for all the above.
It’s time once again for the 48 Hour Band Contest! The name drawings to see what kinda bands we’re going to have begin tomorrow, Thursday, May 1, at 6 p.m. Will we have a band comprised entirely of classical clarinet players? Will we have one with two doo-wop singers and a thrash-metal guitarist? Will we see the birth of a new genre, like hip-hop polka (aka, hipolkop)? Only time will tell, though I for one am excited to welcome our new hipolkop entertainment overlords. STEP ASIDE, TAYLOR SWIFT!
Regardless of what kinda bands these turn into, they only have 48 hours, starting the moment they get put together, to write and rehearse an original 10 minute set that will be performed live on the Klockow stage on Saturday, May 3, starting at 6 p.m. And when I say original, I mean zero covers. They’re starting from scratch, and what’s more, they have to be excellent. It’s explicitly in the rules: “don’t suck.” And the winners will have the privilege, nay, the honor of temporarily holding onto the 48 Hour Band Trophy™, at least long enough to clumsily etch their band name into the side of it. What’s more, the glorious victors will be blessed with a gift certificate good for one medium-sized potato olé from Taco John’s. It’s the greatest award we could think to bestow to a bunch of poor artists.
The 48 Hour Band Trophy™
Life will go on after Saturday, if only more gloriously for the lucky few. But win or lose, everyone should come back on Sunday, May 4, for the next installment of Beer & BS! This month: Madeline Cook of North in Bloom! Ever wanted to know if a rose is a rose is a rose? Madeline is the one to ask. (I don’t care what Gertrude Stein says; she’s not a florist!) Yes, it’s May, which famously brings forth flowers, so we’re going to hear from a local expert on all things floral. This could be a great talk to come to if you just got in a fight with your S.O. and need to come up with a beautiful and personalized “I’m sorry” bouquet pronto! Not to mention Mother’s Day is coming up.
Beer & BS starts at 2 p.m. and will be the last one until fall, as we’ll be taking the summer off for this event.

Thanks for checking out our humble little brewery! As long as you keep coming by, we’ll do our part by making the best damn beer possible and serving it in our always inviting atmosphere.
